The Beethoven Project

Conducted by Daniel Myssyk

The FIRST WESTERN MAJOR SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA TOUR SINCE National Arts Centre and Toronto Symphony headed North.  Full orchestra with double woodwinds and tympani.

Beethoven programme – Eroica symphony.

Conceived as an homage to Napoléon Bonaparte, the EroicaSymphony represents one of Beethoven’s most provocative work, a work that would redefine the potential of musical expression with its unconventional formal design.Appassionata Chamber Orchestra pairs the Eroica with another brilliant and inventive work - the Classical Symphony - by Prokofiev, a true gem from the neo-classical period, composed in an attempt to emulate the style of Haydn.

Appassionata is :

On tour, Appassionata is a full 34 member touring symphony orchestra. At home Appasionata is a chamber orchestra of 20 key musicians, conducted with passion for the past 14 years by its founder Daniel Myssyk. Each year, the orchestra presents a series of fifteen high quality concerts in Quebec and more recently in the United States. Specializing in music of the classical period, Appassionata is driven by the desire to bring music to the greatest number, while offering a fresh concert experience. Aware of the artistic and social role that can be played by an orchestra in its community, Appassionata supports the creation of Canadian compositions and the emergence of new talent through original artistic associations. In addition, it produces each year a large youth series which is addressed to elementary students in disadvantaged areas.
