The Orchestra
Appassionata is a chamber orchestra founded in 2001 by Daniel Myssyk, artistic director and Françoise Henry, bassoon. In late 2016, a new director is at the helm and will give a new kick-off to the orchestra. Indeed, Jean-Philippe Tremblay, who conducts fifty orchestras annually - of which more than half on the international scene - joins Appassionata and will ensure the success of upcoming concerts.
Composed of 19 regular musicians, the orchestra presents each year several high quality concerts in Quebec. Since its inception, it toured in Canada and the United States and has recorded four albums. We heard regularly on Radio-Canada and Radio-Classique.
A specialist of the classical period, Appassionata is driven by the desire to bring music to the widest possible audience while renewing the concert experience. Conscious of the social and artistic role of an orchestra in its community, Appassionata supports the creation of canadian compositions and the emergence of new talent through original artistic associations.
In addition, it annually produces “Music Maestro”, an important youth series aimed at elementary students.
